Pursuit Alert
Today’s Warped site is one that is kinda cool to watch, in the literal sense of the word. It combines the technology of the Internet with the attraction of reality TV. To see what I mean, read on.
The name of the site is Pursuit Alert. This site is a service for people in the Los Angeles California-area, one that tells them when their local media covers live police pursuits. Before, one had to rely on word of mouth, or a “breaking news” alert on the radio. But thanks to today’s technology, members can be alerted through a telephone call, or by a pager. This is a free, non-profit service, but they do rely on donations to keep it running. They say members can expect about four chases a month. When the alert is received, they will know they can turn to a local channel, and see all the action.
On the Warp-o-Meter, this site rates an 8 for Los Angeles residents, and a 5 for the rest of us. All I can say is, only in California would you expect something like this.
